The Marching Band season for 2014 is well underway. You may be on vacation, but Mr. Green and staff are very busy getting our show ready for the students to learn, the drumline and the guard have begun weekly practices, the winds are busy practicing their music (aren’t they?), and the Boosters are busy figuring out how to support all of this. The season has begun!

Many of you have been diligent in making your payments on time and that really helps! We are working on getting the cash needed to pay for band camp and early show fees. We appreciate your continued attention to this!

The Boosters have several fundraisers going on right now to help families earn money directly for their student accounts or for the band general fund. One fundraiser, featuring 31 Bags, is being started this week under the leadership of Julie Iscaro. There is a flyer attached that provides the details. Catalogs will be available after 7:30 Tuesday night, June 24. All funds raised with this fundraiser will go directly to student accounts. Our July Poker Event is scheduled and almost fully staffed with volunteers who will earn a $50.00 credit for every shift they work. There is one shift still open if you want to grab it. Also, if you would like to be a volunteer “on call” for this event in case of some emergency with one of our scheduled volunteers, please let Pam Barckholtz know asap. Information about the event and the available shift can be found at this link http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0949ada82caa8-lakeland1
Don’t forget that our Scrip Cards, Kroger Rewards, Meijer Rewards, and Hiller Rewards are ongoing. Information about these can be found on the website.

Several items are DUE July 1, or need to be tended to asap. They are listed below:

  1. Uniform Essentials Form and payment so that your student can have the necessary items to begin the season. (Due July 1)
  2. Physical Examination and Parent and Student Approval Forms are also due July Don’t forget they need to be notarized. You can get this done free at your township offices and we have a couple band parents who can also help. Let us know if this is a problem for you.
  3. We also need your Criminal Record Check Form and the DHS Central Registry Clearance Form so that you are cleared to volunteer at band camp, band shows, and other band events. (Due July 1) We regret that an outdated DHS Central Registry Clearance Form was previously sent out. The correct form is attached to this message.
  4. Be sure to review the Remind 101 page on this website and sign yourself up. It will make communication that is frequent, fast, and furious at times, much easier for us to send and for you to receive. Most parents really appreciate the quick and easy to read text messages that this allows. Ask someone for help if you have any difficulty enrolling in this service.

Finally, the Booster Board is planning to hold coffee/lemonade socials for any parent who has questions about band, needs some help with forms or just wants to talk about our Marching Band. More on this will be coming, but we will probably have a Board member available every Tuesday and Wednesday night in July during the drumline and guard practices.

As always, be sure to ask if you have any question about anything. Mr. Green and the Booster Board members want to hear your concerns and help whenever we can.
