We have Band Camp coming up in August (8/20-8/27)! Our kids really look forward to this week every year – its a great time for everyone to get to know each and grow as a band family. In order to make this incredible experience as affordable as possible, the parents chaperone and prepare the meals for the kids for the entire week. YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMMIT TO THE ENTIRE WEEK if you would like to help the band during this time. If you can come for a day or two, or even three, we would love to have you! It really is a great time to meet the instructors and other students who will be spending so much time with your kids over the next several months, as well as a great chance to see the beginning of this long wonderful journey through to Ford Field! The following are the areas where we need help:
Male & Female Chaperones – WE ARE IN SERIOUS NEED OF MALE CHAPERONES! monitor the dorms and cabins at night (which is really easy since we have such great kids!) to make sure everyone is in at the appropriate times and makes sure the kids are up and to breakfast/practice on time. At the end of the week, the chaperones help clean the dorms and cabins.
Kitchen Help – prepare the meals and clean the kitchen after meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner). At the end of the week, the kitchen help will clean out the freezers and refrigerators.
Camp Inspector – VERY IMPORTANT AND ONLY TAKES A FEW HOURS. This person will travel to the camp ahead of the kids on that first Saturday (8/20) to inspect the dorms, cabins, etc., to make sure that we are in agreement with camp as to the conditions of the camp before the kids enter any of the buildings. As soon as the camp inspection is complete, this person can head home.
Camp Set Up – these people will help set up the cafeteria and community areas on the first Saturday (8/20). As soon as the general areas are set up, these people can head home.
Camp Clean Up – WE NEED HELP CLEANING UP AFTER ALL OF OUR KIDS – IF WE DON’T HAVE EXTRA HELP, THE PARENTS WHO TOOK CARE OF YOUR KIDS ALL WEEK LONG WILL HAVE TO DO THIS BY THEMSELVES. These people will help clean the kitchen, dorms, cabins, etc., beginning Friday (8/26) and finishing Saturday (8/27). We need as much help as we can get in this area, as we will be inspected and then fined if the clean-up does not meet the owners’ standards.
Luggage Check – THIS IS IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE WE CAN GET ON THE ROAD ON TIME – IT TAKES ONLY AN HOUR OR SO. We need two men and two women to inspect luggage at the school on Saturday (8/20) before the kids load the buses.
Equipment Unloading – we need people who can meet our semi-trailer at the school on the last Saturday (8/27) to help unload all of the equipment and instruments we take to band camp. This only takes an hour at most.
