The Pontiac Holiday Parade is our final parade of the fall. It will take place on Saturday, December 1st at 11am. We are meeting there. We will not be taking buses. This is the day after banquet, so please remember to take instruments home that night from banquet along with uniforms so you have them all ready to go.
Schedule:
9:30 – 10 am Report to Pontiac Academy of Excellence
Where to go/park/drop off:
( THIS INFO IS FROM THE PARADE COORDINATORS) – “We are asking that all bands please arrive
between 9:30 AM -10:00 AM. Due to road closures we are asking that you enter the city using Montcalm and
Caesar Chaves (Oakland Ave) going south. If your students are driving separately please have them park in the
McLaren Hospital Parking garage. The students will then need to exit out of the back door and go to Erebus.
We will have first student busses there shuttling parade participants from our costume headquarters to the
beginning of the parade. If parents are dropping their children off again please have them dropped off at Erebus
so that they can take the shuttle. We cannot have parents dropping off kids at the OLHSA building because this
causes a backup as we are trying to get other busses, cars, and floats lined up for the parade.”
***11 am Parade starts
***12 pm Approximate end time (please be flexible as we don’t know how slow the parade will move,
etc.)
The parade is approximate 3/4 mile long. This is a little longer than the Milford Parade. Please leave plenty of
time to walk to the start of the route if you are parking at the end of the parade route in the morning (you can
also catch the shuttle bus).
Dress warm under your uniforms, but make sure you are wearing your official uniform only on the
outside (SAME AS THE MILFORD HOLIDAY PARADE). Make sure there are no visible winter hats,
gloves that are not black or gloves that prohibit you from playing your instrument correctly, etc!!!
GUARD – Band Jacket, black pants, tennis shoes, and Santa hats (optional) please. You will be spinning
flags for the parade.
PIT – You are carrying the banner and the US/Michigan Flags and appropriate rifle/sabre guards as
well.
Winds/Battery –Please make arrangements to get your instruments/drums/carriers/sticks home with you
before Saturday so you are prepared…take them home on Friday from Banquet!!!
